Mobile Flight Simulator

Our FAA-approved Elite PI-135 Basic Aviation Training Device (BATD) can be used to log 2.5 hours of training toward a Private Pilot Certificate or 10 hours toward an Instrument Rating. It can also be used for recurrent instrument experience credit under FAR 61.57(c)(1)*. We’ve installed the BATD in our minivan so we can deliver this virtual cockpit to you anywhere, anytime for just $75/hour (includes instructor time) anywhere in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Travel charges may apply; contact us for details.

The Elite PI-135 Basic Aviation Training Device (BATD) Features and Benefits:

  • Garmin GNS430W simulator with LPV capability
  • VOR, DME, ADF
  • Variety of airplanes available including Cessna 172/182/182RG, Bonanza, Baron
  • Autopilot
  • Complete U.S. navigation and instrument approach database
  • Emergency scenarios including in-flight icing and systems failures (vacuum, electric, gear, avionics, engine, etc.)
  • “FREEZE” button to pause simulation and allow time for student-instructor discussion
  • Ability to train anywhere, anytime regardless of actual weather conditions
  • More efficient and less expensive than IFR training in a real airplane!
  • No uncomfortable/annoying “view limiting device” required to log time when not in actual IMC!

You can save hundreds of dollars on your IFR ticket with us! Example:

Average IFR-equipped Cessna 172 rental @ $125/hour x 10 hours = $1,250
Average flight instructor @ $30/hour x 10 hours = $300
Total: $1,550

The Sim-Mobile rental @ $25/hour x 10 hours = $250
Highly experienced and dedicated CFII (Meredith) @ $50/hour x 10 hours = $500
Total: $750

SAVINGS: $800

* Note to customers: The Elite PI-135 BATD may not be used to complete an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC). This must be done in an airplane, as stipulated in FAR 61.57(d). However, if it’s been a very long time since you’ve flown IFR and you need an IPC, the sim is still an excellent, efficient and economical way to brush up on your IFR skills and scan before you go out and fly with an instructor.
